Private Voice Lessons for Adults

Online or in‑person (Canberra)

You don’t need a new voice. You need a better relationship with the one you’ve already got. Learn to sing, speak, or perform with more ease, clarity, and confidence — without losing what makes your voice yours. Whether you're coming back to singing after years of silence, starting from scratch, preparing for a gig, gearing up for recording a new album, or wanting to optimise your voice for speaking, performance, or personal expression — you're in the right place.

Why Learn With Me?

I’m not here to make you sound like someone else. I’m here to help you sound like you—with more skill, more confidence, and more freedom.

I’ve been teaching voice for over 30 years in New York City, Austin Texas, and now Canberra. I trained in NYC and Sydney, and I’ve released 8 albums, toured across the U.S., Europe, and Australia, and worked with hundreds of voices.

I didn’t start with a polished voice or a straight path. I began with classical vocal lessons by day, and by night I was busking on the streets and fronting punk bands.

Since then, I’ve studied with world-class coaches, toured across the U.S., Europe, and Australia, and released eight albums. I still train, still learn, and stay up to date with the science of how voices work—and how they stay healthy.

Students often say one lesson with me is worth six months elsewhere. Why? Because I quickly pinpoint where you're at, what’s getting in the way, and what will make the biggest difference—fast. Because your voice isn’t like anyone else’s—and your lessons shouldn’t be either.

Who This Is For

These lessons are for adults of all ages and stages, including:

  • Shy or nervous singers who are scared to be heard.
  • Returning singers who haven’t used their voice in years.
  • Speakers who rely on their voice professionally (teachers, facilitators, coaches, presenters).
  • People navigating vocal strain, tension, or fatigue.
  • Creative folks who want accountability and gentle structure.
  • Performers preparing for recording, live gigs, or auditions.
  • Curious humans who simply want to use their voice with more power and ease.

You don’t need to know music theory. You don’t need fancy gear. You don’t need a big goal. But if you’ve got those things? Excellent! — we’ll use them.

How I Teach

No two voices are the same, so I don’t teach them the same. I bring multiple lenses into our work together so you get practical tools, emotional support, and artistic growth in one place.

Together, we’ll work with:

  • Vocal technique & health – Build strength, flexibility, and reliability while keeping your voice safe and sustainable.
  • Performance and recording prep – Get ready for gigs, studio sessions, open mics, or auditions with song choice, keys, arrangements, and confidence work.
  • Nervous system regulation – Work gently with stage fright, perfectionism, and “freeze” responses so your body can actually support your sound.
  • Artist coaching & accountability – Set realistic goals, follow through on projects, and keep moving even when life gets busy.
  • Song interpretation, storytelling, phrasing – Make songs feel like stories you’re telling, not exercises you’re getting “right.”
  • Speaking voice support – For teachers, facilitators, coaches, and presenters who need their voice to last.

What we’ll do together

Whether you’re brand new to singing or in the middle of a recording project, we’ll start from where you are and move at a pace that feels doable. In our lessons, we will:

  • Strengthen your voice without losing your character.
  • Gently untangle fear, tension, or habits that aren’t serving you.
  • Explore phrasing, tone, lyrics, rhythm — whatever you need most on that day.
  • Make singing feel grounded, embodied, and truly yours.

This is for kitchen singers, stage regulars, secret songwriters, and anyone in between. If you're ready to grow, come see me — let’s make your voice feel like home.
